Multimeter current and voltage measurement methods and steps
Digital multimeter, also known as multimeter, multi-meter, multi-meter or tri-meter, is a multi-purpose electronic measuring instrument, which generally contains functions such as ammeter, voltmeter and ohmmeter. Compared with the pointer multimeter, digital multimeter has the advantages of high precision, fast speed, large input impedance, digital display, accurate reading, strong anti-interference ability, and high degree of measurement automation and is widely used. But if not used properly, it is easy to cause failure. Let the electrician's home editorial use of the multimeter to measure the current and voltage methods and steps to do one by one for you to introduce it.
1, in the use of the multimeter before, should first be "mechanical zero", that is, in the absence of measured power, so that the multimeter pointer in the zero voltage or zero current position.
2,During the process of using the multimeter, you should not touch the metal part of the pen with your hand, so as to ensure the accuracy of the measurement on the one hand, and ensure the personal safety on the other hand.
3,When measuring a certain amount of electricity, you can't change the gear at the same time of measuring, especially when measuring high voltage or high current, you should pay more attention to it. Otherwise, the multimeter will be destroyed. If you need to change gears, you should first disconnect the pen, change gears and then go back to the measurement.
Steps for measuring current and voltage with multimeter
1. Select the range. Multimeter DC voltage gear marked with "V", 2.5 volts, 10 volts, 50 volts, 250 volts and 500 volts five ranges. Select the range according to the size of the power supply voltage in the circuit. Since the supply voltage in the circuit is only 3 volts, the 10-volt range is selected. If you are not sure of the size of the voltage, you should first measure with the highest voltage gear, and gradually switch to a lower voltage gear.
2. Measurement method. Multimeter should be connected in parallel with the circuit under test. The red pen should be connected to the measured circuit and the positive side of the power supply, the black pen should be connected to the measured circuit and the negative side of the power supply.
3. Correct reading. Carefully observe the dial, DC voltage scale is the second scale line, with 10V file, the third line of figures available under the scale line directly read out the measured voltage value. Note that when reading, the line of sight should be directly to the pointer.
