A low-illumination camera or a low-light camera is used to capture the infrared light reflected by the target and convert it into a video signal for display on a monitor in an active night vision system. Examples of such light sources are infrared LEDs, infrared lamps, and near-infrared lasers. Active infrared night vision equipment falls under this category.
There are two types of passive night vision systems. The first enlarges and enhances any extremely faint natural light, such as moonlight, starlight, night sky light, etc., in order to reach the goal of visibility. Low-light night vision equipment is another name for this type of night vision gear. The other method is to utilize far-infrared sensitive detectors to find the target's heat radiation. The thermal imager is another name for this kind of night vision gadget.
