Operating Instructions for Metallurgical Microscopes

(1) Connect the light source plug to the power transformer, and then connect the transformer to the indoor 220V power supply to use. The lighting system has been calibrated before leaving the factory.

(2) Every time the light bulb is replaced, the lamp holder must be repeatedly calibrated. After the bulb is inserted into the lamp holder, place the filter glass on the aperture light bar, and then rotate the lamp holder and adjust it back and forth to make the light source shine evenly and brightly on the filter glass. In this way, the bulb has been adjusted correctly. At this time, rotate the eccentric ring of the lamp holder to an angle to fasten the lamp holder in the chassis. There are red dots on the lamp holder and eccentric ring. When removing them, simply align the red dots.

(3) Before observation, it is generally necessary to install various objective lenses. When installing or removing the objective lens, the stage must be raised to avoid touching the lens. If choosing a certain magnification, you can refer to the total magnification table to select the eyepiece and objective lens.

(4) When placing the sample on the loading platform, place the observed surface back in the platform. If it is a small sample, use a spring press to compress it.

(5) When using a low magnification objective lens to observe focusing, be careful not to collide the lens with the sample. You can look at the objective lens from the side and move the stage down as much as possible until the lens is almost in contact with the sample (but must not be in contact), and then observe from the eyepiece. At this point, the coarse adjustment handwheel should be used to adjust until the initial image is visible, and then the fine adjustment handwheel should be used to adjust until the image is very clear. Do not apply too much force to avoid damaging the lens and affecting the observation of objects. When using a high-power objective lens for observation or an oil immersed objective lens, attention must be paid to the limit markings first. It is necessary to keep the markings on the bracket in the middle of the two markings outside the gearbox, leaving appropriate lifting allowance for micro movements. When turning the coarse handwheel, be careful to slowly lower the stage. When the outline of the object image appears in the field of view of the eyepiece, immediately use the fine handwheel for correct focusing until the object image is clear.

(6) Before using the oil immersed objective lens, lift the stage and dip a smooth and clean small stick in a drop of cedar oil onto the front lens of the objective lens. At this time, avoid the small stick from touching the lens and do not apply too much oil, otherwise it may damage or dirty the lens.

(7) In order to match various numerical aperture objectives, adjustable aperture and field of view gratings are set up to obtain good object images and microscopic photography contrast. When using an objective lens with a certain numerical aperture, first focus the sample correctly, and then adjust the field of view light barrier. At this point, the field of view gradually becomes obscured from the eyepiece field of view, and then slowly adjust the light barrier hole to open until the obscured part happens to appear in the field of view. Its function is to block out light sources outside the field of view of the sample to eliminate diffuse astigmatism reflected by the surface. Adjustable aperture light barriers have been set up to accommodate the brightness requirements of different types of samples and to accommodate the use of different objective lenses. Rotate the aperture diaphragm ring to achieve clear, bright, and well-defined object images. Engrave divisions on the light bar to indicate the aperture size.
