Particular Uses for Clamp Meters

(1) When measuring, squeeze the wrench with your hand to open it. The position of the current-carrying wire to be tested should be placed in the middle of the jaws to prevent measurement errors. Then release the wrench to close the iron core, and the meter head will have an indication.

(2) When measuring, you should first estimate the size of the measured current or voltage, select a suitable range or first select a larger range for measurement, and then reduce the range depending on the measured current and voltage, so that the reading exceeds 1/2 of the scale , in order to get a more accurate reading.

(3) In order to make the reading accurate, the two surfaces of the jaws should be well connected. If there is any noise, open and close the jaws again. If the sound still exists, check whether there is dirt on the joint surface. If there is dirt, wipe it off with gasoline.

(4) When measuring the current of low-voltage fusible fuses or low-voltage busbars, the adjacent phases should be isolated with insulating plates before measurement to prevent phase-to-phase short circuit when the jaws are opened.

(5) Some types of clamp ammeters are equipped with AC voltage scales. When measuring current and voltage, they should be measured separately and cannot be measured at the same time.

(6) It cannot be used for high-voltage live measurement.

(7) After the measurement is completed, the adjustment switch must be placed at the position of the maximum current range, so as to avoid damage to the instrument due to unselected range in the next use.

(8) In order to obtain a more accurate reading when measuring a current less than 5A, when conditions permit, the wire can be wound several times and put into the jaw for measurement, but the actual current value should be the reading divided by the value put into the jaw The number of wires.
