Precautions for Measurement of Pointer Multimeter
The multimeter is a relatively precise instrument. If it is not used properly, it will not only cause inaccurate measurement but also be easily damaged. However, as long as we master the usage and precautions of the multimeter and proceed carefully, the multimeter will last for a long time. Pay attention to the following when using the multimeter:
(1) The measured current and voltage cannot be rotated in the wrong gear. If you mistakenly block the electricity or current to measure the voltage, it is easy to burn out the ammeter. When the multimeter is not in use, turn the gear to the AC voltage gear to avoid damage due to improper use.
(2) When measuring DC voltage and DC current, pay attention to the "+" and "-", and do not connect them wrongly. If the pointer is found to be reversed, the watch stick should be replaced immediately to avoid damage to the pointer and the watch head.
(3) If you do not know the magnitude of the voltage or current to be measured, you should use the gear first, and then select a suitable gear for testing, so as to avoid damage to the meter due to excessive deflection of the hands. The closer the selected gear is to the measured value, the more accurate the measured value will be.
(4) When measuring the resistance, do not touch the two ends of the component (or the metal parts of the two watch rods) with your hands, so as to avoid the parallel connection between the resistance of the human body and the resistance under test, making the measurement result inaccurate.
(5) When measuring resistance, if the two gauge sticks are short-circuited and the “zero ohm” knob is adjusted to 0, the pointer still does not reach 0. This phenomenon is usually caused by insufficient voltage of the battery in the gauge and should be replaced with a new one. Batteries can be measured accurately.
(6) When the multimeter is not in use, do not turn it on the resistance gear, because there is a battery inside, if you are not careful, the two meter sticks will collide and short-circuit, which will not only consume the battery, but even damage the meter head in severe cases.
