Precautions for Purchasing Portable VOCs Gas Detectors
Portable gas detectors are needed to detect the concentrations of certain gases in chemical production and the environment. The editor reminds us, especially customers who are in contact with gas detection for the first time, to pay attention to the following precautions when purchasing gas detectors to avoid making the wrong choice.
I. Determine the type of gas to be detected: The types of gases encountered by each production enterprise are different. When choosing a VOC detector, it is necessary to consider whether to detect a single volatile organic compound or a mixed volatile organic compound. If it is a mixed volatile organic compound, the detected gas needs to be set as VOCS gas. If it is a single volatile organic compound, the corresponding gas should be selected from the gas library of the HYS1000 instrument. If the gas parameters are not available in the gas library, it is necessary to communicate with the seller to add the parameters of this gas to complete the on-site detection.
II. Determine the concentration range of the instrument: Generally, the environmental protection bureau requires the measurement of organized emissions from industrial chimneys. When measuring VOCs at this time, the selected range is usually around 0-100 ppm.
For parks, such as industrial parks, the environmental protection bureau generally requires the measurement of unorganized emissions. When measuring VOCs at this time, the selected range is generally within 0-10 ppm.
III. Determine the usage occasion: Due to the different industrial environments, the detection methods of gas detectors are also different. If it is used as a safety alarm in an open place, such as an open workshop or the factory boundary, the portable pump-suction type HYS1000 VOC detector can be used. Set the sampling pump to low speed, and at this time, the flow rate of the sample gas entering the instrument is 250 ml/min, because it can continuously, real-timely, and accurately display the concentration of VOCS gas on site. If it is to enter a confined space, such as a reaction tank, storage tank or container, underground facilities, railway tank car, shipping cargo hold and other workplaces, detection must be carried out before personnel enter, and long-distance detection with a sampling tube should be carried out outside the confined space. At this time, the high-flow rate gear of the VOC detector must be selected, and the detection should be carried out at a flow rate of 550 ml/min.
