Precautions for using pointer multimeter

① The range conversion switch must be set to the desired measurement position and cannot be placed incorrectly. If the conversion switch is mistakenly set to the current or resistance position when measuring voltage, it will damage the multimeter.

② When measuring current or voltage, if there is no count of the current or voltage being measured, it should be turned to the maximum range first to ensure that the pointer (meter head) is not damaged, and then turned to the appropriate range for measurement to reduce errors. But remember not to use live range switches.

③ When measuring DC voltage or DC current, it is necessary to pay attention to the polarity of the multimeter probes. The positive and negative terminals of diangon.com should be connected to the positive and negative terminals of the circuit. When measuring current, special attention should be paid to disconnecting the circuit and connecting the probes in series in the circuit.

④ When measuring 2500V AC or DC high voltage, personal safety should be taken into consideration, and the test probes should be inserted into the "2500V" and "I" sockets respectively.

⑤ When measuring resistance, the tested circuit must be disconnected from the power supply. When there is a capacitor in the circuit, it must be discharged first to avoid damaging the meter head. When measuring resistance, the range should be selected appropriately. When measuring low resistance, attention should be paid to contact resistance. When measuring high resistance (greater than 10k Ω), attention should be paid not to add parallel circuits (such as not touching the metal part of the probe or the lead part of the resistor with human hands).

⑥ There is a "zero ohm calibration knob" on the multimeter, which is used for measuring resistance. When measuring, first short-circuit the positive and negative probes, adjust the zero ohm calibration knob to deflect the pointer to the 0 position. If the 0 point of the pointer cannot be adjusted, it indicates that the battery voltage inside the multimeter is insufficient or the internal contact part is oxidized.

⑦ For a pointer type multimeter, after each measurement is completed, the conversion switch should be turned to the highest gear for measuring AC voltage to avoid misuse by others and damage to the multimeter.
