Precautions when using the human body temperature measuring gun

Precautions when using human body thermometers: Experts from the China Institute of Metrology put forward guiding opinions on the correct use of anti-SARS infrared radiation human body thermometers.

Experts pointed out that infrared radiation thermometers measure the temperature of the human body surface such as the forehead. The body surface temperature is not only related to the body temperature, but also affected by the blood circulation and heat conduction conditions under the surface and the surface heat exchange conditions. In order for the infrared radiation thermometer to accurately and reliably reflect changes in human body temperature, eight points must be achieved:

1: Try to require the person being measured to stay in the measurement environment for a long enough time so that the surface heat exchange conditions of the person being measured are the same or similar. For example, at an airport, measurements must be taken 10 minutes after passengers arrive at the airport terminal. At this time, the ventilation and temperature conditions of the terminal building are basically stable, and the external heat exchange conditions of passengers' foreheads are basically similar.

2: The measurement location should be indoors as much as possible, and avoid direct sunlight on the infrared radiation thermometer and the forehead of the person being measured.

Three: Accurately estimate the distance of the person being measured.

Four: A person's forehead temperature is generally 1 to 3 degrees Celsius lower than the armpit temperature. At this time, the armpit temperature criterion for fever should be converted to forehead temperature.

5: The infrared ear thermometer measures ear temperature and can complete the measurement within 1 second. Since the human eardrum and ear canal are less affected by external environmental conditions, the infrared ear thermometer can accurately measure body temperature. Human ear temperature is generally 0.4 degrees Celsius higher than armpit temperature. At this time, the infrared ear thermometer indication should convert the armpit temperature criterion of fever to the ear temperature criterion.

Six: In order to ensure the accuracy and stability of the infrared radiation thermometer, it should be calibrated and compared with the standard calibration device regularly.

7: Non-contact infrared radiation thermometers are divided into industrial and medical types. When measuring body temperature, medical infrared radiation thermometers should be used because industrial ones have a wide range, low resolution, and large errors.

Eight: Various human body thermometers, in descending order of measurement accuracy: medical thermometer, infrared ear thermometer, and body surface infrared radiation thermometer. From the perspective of preventing SARS, infrared ear thermometers are more accurate than surface infrared radiation thermometers.
