Routine maintenance of microscope

 

1. If the indoor environment is damp, optical lenses are prone to mold and fog. Once the lens becomes moldy, it is difficult to remove. The lenses inside the microscope are more harmful to moisture due to the inconvenience of wiping. Mechanical parts are prone to rusting when exposed to moisture. In order to prevent moisture, when storing microscopes, in addition to choosing a dry room, the storage location should also be away from walls, floors, and sources of moisture. 1-2 bags of silicone gel should be placed inside the microscope box as a desiccant. And often bake the silicone. After its color turns pink, it should be baked in a timely manner before continuing to use.


2. Dust falling onto the surface of dust-proof optical components not only affects the passage of light, but also generates large stains after amplification by the optical system, which affects observation. Dust and sand particles falling into the mechanical parts can also increase wear and tear, causing movement obstruction and posing significant hazards. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly maintain the cleanliness of the microscope.


3. Anti corrosion microscopes cannot be placed together with corrosive chemical reagents. Such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, strong bases, etc.


4. The main purpose of heat prevention is to avoid the opening and detachment of lenses caused by thermal expansion and contraction.


5. Do not touch sharp objects such as nails, needles, etc.


6. Non related personnel are not allowed to use it at will.


Optical system wiping
Usually, clean the surface of each optical part of the microscope with a clean brush or wipe it clean with lens cleaning paper. When there are dirt, oil stains, or fingerprints on the lens that cannot be wiped off, or when the lens becomes moldy, foggy, or reused after long-term use, it is necessary to wipe it before use.


1. Wiping range: The eyepiece and spotlight are allowed to be disassembled for wiping. Due to the complex structure of the objective lens, specialized instruments are required for calibration during assembly to restore its original accuracy. Therefore, it is strictly prohibited to disassemble and wipe it.


2. When disassembling the eyepiece and spotlight, the following points should be noted:
circumspect. When disassembling, it is necessary to mark the relative position of each component (which can be marked by drawing lines on the shell), the relative order, and the front and back of the lens to prevent errors during reassembly.


3. The operating environment should be kept clean and dry. When disassembling the eyepiece, simply unscrew the upper and lower lenses from both ends. The field of view light bar inside the eyepiece cannot be moved. Otherwise, it will blur the boundary of the field of view. It is strictly prohibited to further disassemble the lens on the spotlight after it is turned off. Due to the oil immersed lens on it, it undergoes good sealing before leaving the factory, and further disassembly can damage its sealing performance and cause damage.


4. The wiping method first uses a clean brush or hair dryer to remove dust from the surface of the lens. Then use a clean velvet cloth to make a spiral unidirectional motion from the center of the lens towards the edge. After wiping once, change the velvet cloth to another place and wipe again until it is clean. If there are oil stains, dirt, or fingerprints on the lens that cannot be wiped off, you can wrap a willow branch with degreasing cotton and dip it in a small amount of alcohol and ether mixture (80% alcohol, 20% ether) to wipe it off. If there are heavy mold spots or mold spots that cannot be removed, you can use a cotton swab dipped in water to wet it and stick calcium carbonate powder (with a content of 99% or more) on it for wiping. After wiping, the powder should be cleaned thoroughly. Whether the lens is wiped clean can be observed and checked by the reflected light on the lens. It should be noted that the dust must be removed before wiping. Otherwise, the sand particles in the dust will create grooves on the mirror surface. Do not use towels, handkerchiefs, clothes, etc. to wipe the lenses. Too much alcohol ether mixture should not be used to prevent the liquid from entering the adhesive part of the lens and causing it to peel off. There is a layer of purple blue transparent film on the surface of the lens, do not mistake it for dirt and wipe it off.
