Soldering iron safety skills to master

1. Prevent high temperature from "burning" the soldering iron
head and burnt power cord
The temperature of the electric soldering iron is as high as 250 ℃ after being powered on. When not in use, it should be placed on the soldering iron stand, but when it is not used for a long time, the power should be cut off to prevent the high temperature from "burning" the soldering iron tip (the soldering tip does not eat tin due to oxidation). It is necessary to prevent the electric soldering iron from burning other components, especially the power cord. If the insulation layer is burned by the soldering iron without paying attention, it will easily cause a short circuit or electric shock.

2. Fire and scald prevention
In order to prevent fire caused by the high temperature of the electric soldering iron, the electric soldering iron should be placed away from combustible and combustible objects.
That is, cut off the power supply, and store it when the residual heat dissipates and the temperature of the electric soldering iron drops to room temperature. In order to avoid scalding the human body with the electric soldering iron, when using the electric soldering iron, the human body should not touch the place other than the handle of the electric soldering iron. During welding, it is not allowed
Flick the soldering iron to prevent the solder from splashing and hurting people.
The operator should wear gloves when tinning.

3. If there is a fault, correct maintenance is not allowed to beat the electric soldering iron
After using the soldering iron for a period of time, there may be tin scale on the tip of the soldering iron, which can be
Wipe off lightly with a damp cloth while the soldering iron is heating. If there are pits or oxidized blocks, use a fine-grained file to repair or directly replace the soldering iron tip. Do not hit the soldering iron violently, otherwise, there will be a fault that the heating wire or lead wire inside the soldering iron will be broken and the power will not be energized.

4. Avoid scalding components
When tinning the pins of low-power diodes, triodes, etc., the pins of various components should not be cut too short, otherwise it is not conducive to heat dissipation or soldering. When hanging tin, it is best to use metal tweezers to clamp the part of the lead close to the shell, so as to transfer part of the heat away and prevent the components from being burned due to excessive temperature. When soldering, the tip of the electric soldering iron stays on the welding site for about 3 seconds. After the soldering iron is removed, a smooth solder joint is formed at the soldering site. When welding, make sure that the position of the lead wire does not change, otherwise it is very easy to cause false welding. The time the soldering iron tip stays should not be too long or too short. If it is too long, it will burn the components. If it is too short, it will cause cramped welding due to insufficient solder melting.
