Steps and precautions for the operation of an orthogonal microscope

1,Placement
Hold the mirror arm with your right hand and the mirror base with your left hand to keep the mirror body upright. The desktop should be clean and smooth, and you should choose a place near the window or with sufficient light. Single cylinder is generally placed on the left side, 3 to 4 cm from the edge of the table.

2,Cleaning
Check whether the microscope is faulty and clean, the mechanical part of the mirror body can be wiped with a clean soft cloth. The lens should be wiped with mirror paper, if there is glue or sticky dirt, a small amount of xylene can be used to clean it.

3. Aligning the light
The barrel of the mirror is raised to 1~2cm from the carrier table, and the low magnification mirror is aligned with the through-hole. Adjust the aperture and reflector, when the light is strong, use a plane mirror, when the light is weak, use a concave mirror, the reflector should be rotated with both hands.

If you use a microscope with a light source, you can omit the sub-steps, but you need to adjust the brightness of the knob.

4. Mounting the specimen
Place the slide on the carrier table, and note that the side with the coverslip must be facing up. Fix the slide with a spring clip, turn the knob of the platform mover, so that the material to be observed is aligned with the centre of the light-through hole.

5. Focusing
Focusing, first rotate the coarse focusing knob slowly lower the lens barrel, and carefully observe from the side until the objective lens close to the slide specimen, and then the left eye from the eyepiece observation, the left hand rotate the coarse focusing knob to lift the lens barrel, until you can see the specimen image stop, and then fine focusing knob back to adjust clearly.

Operation Note: should not be directly under the high power lens focus; barrel down, should be observed from the side of the barrel and the distance between the specimen; to understand the critical value of the object distance.

If the use of binocular microscope, such as observers have differences in the visual acuity of both eyes, the reliable visual acuity adjustment circle adjustment. In addition, the binoculars can be shifted relatively to adapt to the spacing between the operator's eyes.
