Steps for eating tin from the soldering head of an electric soldering iron

1. Grinding or wiping

Ordinary head: First, use sandpaper or a file to polish it, and the length of the polishing should be slightly longer than the height of the inclined surface. Be careful and careful until the surface is clean and smooth. Then use a clean and dry cloth to wipe it clean.

Long life head: cannot be polished or filed, can only be wiped clean with a clean and dry cloth.

2. Eating tin

Prepare a small box of rosin (although the soldering wire contains rosin, the amount is too small to eat tin), connect the power plug, wait for a moment, and the soldering iron head will heat up. Use the soldering iron head to dip in the rosin to estimate the temperature. Just being able to melt rosin indicates that the temperature is still low; White smoke from rosin and severe purple hair from soldering iron indicate that the temperature is too high; The temperature is optimal only when rosin can quickly melt and does not emit a large amount of smoke.

When the temperature of the soldering iron head reaches its optimal level, evenly dip the soldering iron head with rosin.

The soldering iron dipped with rosin should quickly melt the solder wire on the soldering iron frame plate to make it a large solder spot (add a little rosin). The soldering iron head should repeatedly immerse the rotating solder spot until the polished part of the soldering iron head is evenly coated with tin.

3. Aging:

After eating tin, age the soldering iron.

Aging refers to temporarily not using soldering iron for welding, allowing it to continue heating with electricity for a while, then unplugging the power cord and placing it on the soldering iron frame to allow it to cool naturally.

Aging can extend the service life of soldering iron heads and cores, especially for newly replaced soldering iron heads and cores. After eating tin and aging soldering iron, it can be used normally in the future.

If an electric soldering iron is used normally, it is necessary to check whether the soldering iron head is "burnt" or "port incomplete" before conducting a new round of power welding.

Burn to death "refers to the oxidation of the tin eating area of the soldering iron head, which turns into a burnt black head and no longer dips in tin or has poor dipping ability; Port defect "refers to the deformation or cracking of the working surface. Both of these situations require re tinning of the soldering iron head.
