Steps involved in measuring with an infrared thermometer

Infrared thermometer we commonly known as point temperature gun, is through the principle of infrared transmission of digital to sense the temperature of the surface of the object, suitable for high temperature object measurement. In power plants, it is convenient for operators to measure the temperature of the equipment anytime and anywhere to see whether the equipment is working properly.

Infrared thermometer consists of optical system, photoelectric detector, signal amplifier and signal processing, display output and other components. The optical system converges the target infrared radiation energy in its field of view, the size of the field of view is determined by the optical parts of the pyrometer and its position. The infrared energy is focused on the photodetector and transformed into a corresponding electrical signal. The signal is converted into a temperature value of the target after passing through amplifiers and signal processing circuits and being corrected for the target emissivity according to the algorithms treated in the instrument.

Measurement method:
The thermometer belongs to the portable thermometer, the use of relatively simple, through the "SEL" and "SET" two keys to set the emissivity, temperature units and the maximum, minimum and so on between the value of the switch, it is mainly measured in the following steps:

1,Select ℃ or ℉ unit and emissivity according to the need.

2,Aim the infrared ray of the pyrometer at the object to be measured, press the measurement key to start the measurement, release the measurement key to keep the data and repeat the measurement several times.

3,Press the "SEL" key to read the maximum, minimum, average and maximum difference of the temperature of the measured object.

Advantages of infrared thermometer
Non-contact temperature measurement by receiving infrared rays radiated by the measured body has many advantages. This allows temperature measurements to be carried out without problems on objects that are difficult to access or that are in motion, such as materials with poor heat transfer properties or very small heat capacities. The short response time of infrared thermometers allows for fast adjustment loops. Pyrometers do not have parts that wear out and therefore do not have the continuous costs associated with the use of thermometers. Especially in the case of very small measured objects, contact measurements, due to the thermal conductivity of the object, result in large measurement errors. Here the use of thermometers can be used without any doubt, as well as for corrosive chemicals or surfaces, such as on paints, paper and plastic rails. By means of remote control measurements, it is possible to keep away from the danger zone and make it hazard-free for the operator.
