The Application of Thermometers in the Automotive Industry
Infrared thermometers have been proven to be cost-effective diagnostic and preventive tools for electrical system and equipment maintenance inspections. Raytek's entire set of infrared thermometers provide * * temperature values with an accuracy of 1-4%. Depending on the model used, the temperature measurement distance can reach up to 180 feet. These tools have the characteristics of light weight, durability, and ease of use.
Measuring electrical components
The non-contact infrared thermometer can measure the surface temperature of objects at a distance of * *, and is an indispensable tool in electrical maintenance work.
Electrical applications
Prevent equipment failures and unexpected shutdowns in the following applications.
The connector electrical connection section will gradually generate heat due to loose connection points, repeated heating (expansion) and cooling (contraction), or dust, carbon deposition, and corrosion. A non-contact thermometer can quickly determine the occurrence of temperature rise, indicating serious equipment problems.
Electric motor - To extend the service life of the motor, check whether the power connection and the temperature of the circuit breaker (or heater) are the same.
Motor bearings - Monitor changes in hot spots and carry out planned maintenance or replacement of components before equipment malfunctions occur.
Motor winding insulation - extending the service life of winding insulation by measuring its temperature.
Phase to phase measurement - Check if the phase to phase temperature of the cables and connectors of induction motors, large computers, and other equipment is the same.
Transformer - Check if there are hot spots indicating winding defects in the winding of the air-cooled unit.
Uninterruptible Power Supply - Identify local thermal connections in the UPS output filter. The appearance of a cold spot may indicate that the DC filter circuit is in an open state.
Backup battery - Check if the low-voltage battery is properly connected. The battery connection connected to * * may heat up enough to burn out the terminal.
Ballast - Check for overheated ballasts before emitting smoke.
Public equipment - identify hotspots in connections, cable joints, transformers, and other equipment. Some Raytek models have an optical range of 60:1 or higher, making it easy to measure almost any target.
