The correct use of portable infrared thermometer

Portable infrared thermometer to measure the temperature of the object to be measured, the infrared thermometer should be aligned with the object to be measured, and to ensure that the measurement distance and the ratio of spot size to meet the requirements of the field of view, not too close, not too far. Then press the trigger button, in the instrument's LCD display can be read on the measured temperature data. There are five important things to remember when using a portable infrared thermometer.

1 Ambient temperature. If the infrared thermometer is suddenly exposed to an ambient temperature difference of 20 ℃ or higher, allow the instrument to adjust to the new ambient temperature within 20min.

2. Measure only the surface temperature of the object. Portable infrared thermometer can not measure the internal temperature of the object

3. Pay attention to the environmental conditions. Steam, dust, smoke, etc. will block the optical system of the instrument and affect the precise. Accurate temperature measurement.

4. Locate hot spots. To find the hot spot, first aim at the target with the instrument, and then scan up and down on the target until the hot spot is identified.

5. Portable infrared thermometer can not be measured through the glass. Glass has very special reflective and transmissive properties, can not carry out precise. Accurate temperature readings, but can be measured through the infrared window. Infrared thermometers are best not used on bright or polished glass. Best not used for bright or polished metal surfaces temperature measurement (stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).

How to determine the handheld infrared thermometer optical resolution and signal processing

Determine the optical resolution
Optical resolution is determined by the ratio of D and S, is the pyrometer to the target between the distance D and the measurement of the spot diameter S ratio. For example, the infrared era of handheld infrared thermometer Ti213, distance factor of 80:1, if the target is 80 centimeters away from the target, then the diameter of the measurement range is 1 cm. If the pyrometer must be installed away from the target due to environmental conditions, but also to measure small targets, you should choose a high optical resolution pyrometer. The higher the optical resolution, i.e. the larger the D:S ratio, the higher the cost of the pyrometer.

Signal processing capabilities:
In view of the discrete process (such as parts production) and the continuous process is different, so the requirements of infrared thermometer with multi-signal processing capabilities (such as peak hold, valley hold, the average value) can be selected, such as temperature measurement conveyor belt on the bottle, it is necessary to use the peak hold, and the output signal of its temperature is transmitted to the controller. Otherwise the pyrometer reads out the lower temperature value between the bottles. If peak hold is used, set the pyrometer response time slightly longer than the time interval between bottles, so that at least one bottle is always in the measurement.
