The difference between digital sugar meter and handheld refractometer
1. Digital sugar meter:
Digital sugar meter is used to conveniently and quickly determine the weight percentage concentration or refractive index of sugar-containing solutions. It is widely used in sugar, food, beverage and other industrial sectors as well as in agricultural production and scientific research.
Working principle: The sugar meter mainly uses the phenomenon of refraction when light enters from one medium into another medium, and the ratio of the sine of the incident angle is constant. This ratio is called the refractive index. Using the fact that the content of soluble substances in the sugar solution is proportional to the refractive index under ordinary circumstances, the refractive index of the sugar solution can be measured, so that the sugar meter/refractometer can calculate the concentration of sugar.
2. Handheld refractometer
A handheld refractometer is an instrument that can measure the refractive index nD and average dispersion nF-nC of transparent, translucent liquids or solids (mainly measuring transparent liquids). If a thermostat is connected to the instrument, the refractive index ND can be measured within the temperature range of 0 to 70. Refractive index and average dispersion are one of the important optical constants of a substance, which can be used to understand the optical properties, purity, concentration and dispersion size of the substance. Since the handheld refractometer can measure the concentration percentage of sugar in sucrose solution, the handheld refractometer is widely used in the petroleum industry, oil industry, paint industry, food industry, daily chemical industry, and sugar industry. It is one of the indispensable common equipment in factories, schools and research units related to industrial and geological survey.
Classification of sugar meters
According to the different ways of use, sugar meters can be divided into: handheld sugar meters, portable sugar meters and desktop sugar meters.
Application places
Portable sugar meters provide quick readings of sugar concentration. It is widely used in sugar, food, beverage and other industrial sectors as well as in agricultural production and scientific research.
