The difference between hand-held sugar meter and hand-held refractometer
1. Handheld sugar meter:
The hand-held sugar meter is used for convenient and rapid determination of weight percent concentration or refractive index in sugar-containing solutions. Widely used in sugar, food, beverage and other industrial sectors as well as agricultural production and scientific research.
Working principle: The sugar content meter mainly uses the refraction phenomenon when light enters another medium from one medium, and the ratio of the sine of the incident angle is constant, and this ratio is called the refractive index. The refractive index of the sugar solution can be measured by using the direct ratio between the content of soluble substances in the sugar solution and the refractive index under ordinary circumstances, so that the sugar concentration can be calculated by the sugar meter/refractometer.
2. Handheld refractometer
A hand-held refractometer is an instrument that can measure the refractive index nD and average dispersion nF-nC of transparent, translucent liquids or solids (mainly for transparent liquids). If the instrument is connected with a thermostat, it can measure the refractive index ND within the temperature range of 0~70. Refractive index and average dispersion are one of the important optical constants of substances, which can be used to understand the optical properties, purity, concentration and dispersion of substances. The instrument can also measure the percentage of sugar content in the sucrose solution. Therefore, this kind of instrument has a wide range of applications, and is one of the indispensable common equipment for relevant factories, schools and research units such as petroleum industry, oil industry, paint industry, food industry, daily chemical industry, sugar industry and geological survey.
