The dissolved oxygen meter is not an oxygen detector

Oxygen detectors and dissolved oxygen detectors are not a kind of oxygen detectors. There are many forms of oxygen detectors, and there are also many product names. Many friends who don’t know well are likely to confuse some of these products and waste time. The supplied oxygen detection tools include oxygen detectors, trace oxygen analyzers, dissolved oxygen meters and other oxygen detection tools. Each is tested for oxygen under what environmental conditions.

The definition of an oxygen detector is mainly to test oxygen, but we have the difference between testing oxygen in water and air, so this name alone cannot distinguish the oxygen composition in that form, so we need to understand deeply, In order to know whether the test object is what we need.

Oxygen gas detector, pay attention to gas here. In this case, we mostly detect the oxygen concentration in the air. Whether it is a closed space, a pipeline or a workshop, it is the oxygen content in the gas environment concentration. Most of the detection principles of this detector are based on the electrochemical principle. Its purpose is to worry about the lack of oxygen in the human body, or to monitor the impact of oxygen concentration on the production safety of working conditions, or the purity of oxygen content required by a certain process, or Said the use of equipment required by standards such as trace volume. Therefore, this kind of instrument belongs to the detection of gas concentration in the air, and is used as a gas oxygen concentration detection instrument.

The dissolved oxygen analyzer measures the amount of dissolved oxygen in the liquid. This is for the oxygen concentration in the liquid, so it is called dissolved oxygen. It cannot be used for air oxygen measurement, so it seems that there is no difference, but the test objects are different. When we choose a product, we must understand whether we are testing the air or the water. All oxygen in water is called dissolved oxygen.

Dissolved oxygen refers to oxygen dissolved in the molecular state of water, that is, O2 in water, represented by DO. Dissolved oxygen is an indispensable condition for the survival of aquatic organisms. One source of dissolved oxygen is when the dissolved oxygen in the water is not saturated, the oxygen in the atmosphere penetrates into the water body; the other source is the oxygen released by the plants in the water through photosynthesis. Dissolved oxygen changes with changes in temperature, air pressure, and salinity. Generally speaking, the higher the temperature, the greater the dissolved salt, and the lower the dissolved oxygen in water; the higher the air pressure, the higher the dissolved oxygen in water. In addition to being consumed by reducing substances such as sulfide, nitrite, and ferrous ions in water, dissolved oxygen is also consumed by the respiration of microorganisms in water and the oxidative decomposition of organic substances in water by aerobic microorganisms. Therefore, dissolved oxygen is the capital of water body and the performance of water body self-purification ability.
