The maintenance precautions for pH meter electrodes are as follows:

1. The electrode should be calibrated with a standard buffer solution before each measurement, and the standard buffer solution should be the one closest to the pH value of the measured solution.

2. Avoid contacting the sensitive glass bubble of the electrode with hard objects during use, so as to avoid damage or rubbing of the glass bubble.

3. The electrode should avoid long-term immersion in distilled water, protein solution and acid fluoride solution, and avoid contact with silicone oil.

4. If the slope of the electrode becomes lower and the response becomes slower due to long-term use, it means that the electrode needs to be cleaned. To achieve the best cleaning results, a different cleaning solution needs to be selected for the type of solution the electrode is frequently measuring:

Often measuring solutions containing protein, the electrode membrane can be cleaned with pepsin/hydrochloric acid washing solution;

Often measure oily or organic liquids, which can be cleaned with acetone or ethanol;

The electrode liquid junction becomes dirty and black, it can be cleaned with thiol cleaning solution;

Soak in electrode regeneration solution for 30 seconds, and then soak in 3mol/L KCl solution for 5 hours to achieve the effect of activating the electrode membrane.

4. The terminal of the electrode must be kept dry and clean to prevent output short circuit.

5. After the measurement, the electrode should be cleaned in time, the electrode protective sleeve should be put on, and a small amount of reference supplement should be placed in the bulb to keep the electrode bulb moist.
