The principle of clamp ammeter
The clamp ammeter mainly consists of a current transformer and an ammeter, used to detect the circuit current when the circuit is closed. It has multiple functions such as automatic shutdown, data retention, resistance/buzzing, and automatic zeroing;
And its simple operation and convenient portability, especially its characteristic of not needing to disconnect the circuit, make it a necessary detection instrument in certain situations.
Precautions for operating clamp ammeters:
1. When measuring currents below 5A, it is recommended to use circular measurements to make the measurement results more accurate;
2. Ensure that the jaws are clean and undamaged to prevent dirt and other factors from affecting the measurement results;
3. Try to place the load measuring fluid at the center of the jaws as much as possible;
4. It is not allowed to use a clamp ammeter to measure the current of exposed wires, in order to avoid electric shock, short circuit, and other phenomena.
5. If electromagnetic noise is heard from the jaws during measurement, or if there is a slight vibration in the hand holding the clamp ammeter, it indicates that the end face of the jaws is not tightly connected, or there may be rust spots or dirt. It should be cleaned immediately, otherwise it will cause inaccurate measurement.
6. It is not possible to change the range when measuring with current. The current should be disconnected before changing the range, otherwise the clamp ammeter is prone to damage and the measuring personnel are not safe.
Principle of clamp ammeter:
The clamp ammeter utilizes the working principle of mutual inductance. When the wrench is tightened, the iron core of the current transformer opens, and the measured current flows through the gap in the iron core. After the wrench is released, the iron core closes, completing the fixation of the measured wire.
During the detection process, the wire passing through the iron core is regarded as the primary coil of the current transformer, and the current flowing through the primary coil induces the current in the secondary coil as well;
And connected to its secondary side is an ammeter, so the magnitude of the measured current in the primary wire can be obtained by displaying the reading on the ammeter.
