The problems and solutions of coating thickness gauge

A coating thickness gauge is a non-destructive instrument used for detecting the surface coating thickness of various metal materials. Users may encounter some abnormalities during use, which we can handle ourselves. Based on our long-term experience in the application of coating thickness gauges, let's talk about common faults and treatment methods of coating thickness gauges

1. The instrument does not turn on
① Please check and confirm if the battery is charged, or replace it with a new one.

② Please check if the battery is in good contact and if the electrode plates are not oxidized or rusted (if rusted, the oxide layer can be scraped off with a tool)

③ Please check if the buttons are pressed in place and if they are elastic and functioning properly.

④ Other host circuit faults, consult the company's after-sales service or return to the factory for maintenance

2. Inaccurate instrument measurement
① Please first calibrate the instrument in the system and calibrate it to meet the error range. The error follows ≤ 3% (thickness value). If further testing is required, please perform systematic calibration on the smooth bare substrate of the tested workpiece (unpainted substrate).

② Please check if the front end of the probe is worn, deformed, or has any attached substances, and if the outer sheath of the probe is not level. Any deformation can be corrected by sanding with sandpaper and cleaned

③ The surface roughness of the substrate of the test piece affects the system error and accidental error. When measuring, increase the number of measurements at different positions to overcome accidental errors. Or use sandpaper to polish the substrate and recalibrate the instrument zero point.

④ Measurement techniques and placement of probes should be maintained perpendicular to the specimen during testing

⑤ Measure the curvature of the workpiece and recalibrate it within the radius of curvature that the probe is adapted to. Especially for the convex surface of the pipeline, pay attention to the stable placement of the probe's V-shaped slot.

3. The instrument cannot measure
① Check if the probe is properly connected and inserted properly

② Check if there are any broken parts in the probe wire, and focus on checking the probe connector (the connector can be turned on by turning the knob)

③ Frequent and extensive use of probes, aging or damage of sensors, burns, etc

④ Other host circuit components malfunction

4. No data changes observed during measurement
① Whether the probe is well connected or damaged, etc

② Related host circuit failure
