The purpose and classification of AC regulated power supply
Contactless AC voltage regulator
① Ferromagnetic resonance AC voltage regulator: An AC voltage regulator made by combining a saturated choke with a corresponding capacitor and possessing constant voltage volt ampere characteristics. Magnetic saturation is an early typical structure of this type of voltage regulator. It has a simple structure, convenient manufacturing, wide allowable range of input voltage variation, reliable operation, and strong overload capacity. But the waveform distortion is large and the stability is not high. The voltage stabilizing transformer developed in recent years is also a power supply device that utilizes the nonlinearity of electromagnetic components to achieve voltage stabilizing function. The difference between it and the magnetic saturation voltage regulator lies in the different magnetic circuit structure, while the basic working principle is the same. It can realize Dwifungsi of voltage stabilization and voltage transformation simultaneously on one core, so it is superior to common power transformer and magnetic saturation voltage regulator.

② Magnetic amplifier type AC voltage regulator: a device that connects the magnetic amplifier and Autotransformer in series and uses electronic circuits to change the impedance of the magnetic amplifier to stabilize the output voltage. Its circuit form can be linear amplification, pulse width modulation, etc. This type of regulator has a closed-loop system with feedback control, so it has high stability and good output waveform. However, due to the use of magnetic amplifiers with high inertia, the recovery time is longer. Due to the use of self coupling, the anti-interference ability is poor.
③ Induction AC voltage regulator: A device that stabilizes the output AC voltage by changing the phase difference between the secondary voltage of the transformer and the primary voltage. It is similar to wound asynchronous motor in structure, and similar to induction Pressure regulator in principle. Its stable voltage range is wide, the output voltage waveform is good, and the power can reach hundreds of kilowatts. However, due to the rotor often being in a locked state, the power consumption is high and the efficiency is low. Due to the high use of copper and iron materials, there is less production.
④ Thyristor AC voltage regulator: An AC voltage regulator that uses thyristors as power adjustment components. It has the advantages of high stability, fast response, and no noise. But due to damage to the city's radio waveform, it causes interference to communication and electronic equipment.

Contacted AC voltage regulator
Sliding AC voltage regulator: A device that changes the position of the sliding contact of a transformer to achieve stable output voltage, that is, an automatic voltage regulating AC voltage regulator driven by a servo motor. This type of voltage regulator has high efficiency, good output voltage waveform, and no special requirements for load properties. But the stability is low and the recovery time is longer.
With the development of power supply technology, the following three new types of AC regulated power sources emerged in the 1980s.
① Compensated AC voltage regulator: also known as partial adjustment voltage regulator. The additional voltage of the compensation transformer is connected in series between the power supply and the load. With the increase or decrease of the input voltage, intermittent AC switches (contactors or thyristors) or continuous servo motors are used to change the size or polarity of the additional voltage, subtracting (or adding) the higher (or lower) part of the input voltage to achieve voltage stabilization. The capacity of the compensation transformer is only about 1/7 of the output power, which has the advantages of simple structure and low cost, but its stability is not high.
② CNC AC voltage regulator and stepper voltage regulator: A control circuit composed of logic components or microprocessors, which converts the primary turns of the transformer according to the input voltage to stabilize the output voltage.
③ Static AC voltage regulator: It has been applied due to its excellent isolation function and can eliminate peak interference from the power grid.
