Night vision goggles, often referred to as night vision binoculars, infrared binoculars, and night vision goggles, are devices used to observe at night in complete darkness or low light. Later, it is extensively utilized in criminal investigation, security protection, preventing forest fires, line patrol for electric and communication lines, construction sites, breeding farms, farm maintenance, even tourism, and other industries. The various varieties of night vision equipment that have been developed during the past 50 years are basically as follows:

1. Image enhancement technology, commonly referred to as low-light night vision technology, is a photoelectric imaging technique that improves the target image while it is being viewed through night vision goggles with an image intensifier tube. Direct observation and indirect observation are the two categories of low-light night vision technology, which is currently the largest and most popular night vision equipment utilized abroad.

2. There are two categories of infrared night vision technology: active and passive. The corresponding equipment is an active infrared night vision device. Active infrared night vision technology is a type of night vision that enables observation by actively illuminating the target and using the infrared light reflected by it to reflect the infrared source. Despite having clear imaging and easy production, active infrared night vision technology has a fatal flaw: on the battlefield, the infrared light of the infrared light will be detected by the enemy's infrared detecting device. This flaw probably served as a warning that active infrared night vision equipment ought to be abandoned. An infrared technology known as passive infrared night vision allows for observation using the infrared radiation that the target itself emits.

3. Some night vision devices' photocathode semiconductor material has been upgraded, making them more sensitive to infrared and low light. Low light night vision is activated on sunny days and nights, and both infrared and low light night vision are combined on one instrument. It operates as an active infrared night vision device by producing infrared rays at night on cloudy and wet days, and its working range is greater than that of a straightforward passive low-light night vision device.
