The distinction between calibration and testing of gas detectors:
(1) Testing is the process of using a gas detector to detect a gas with a known concentration to see if the findings are within the permitted range. The instrument needs to be calibrated if it goes over the permitted range.
(2) Calibration is the process of modifying a gas detector's result after testing it with a gas whose concentration is known so that it matches the known gas's concentration.
(1) The gas detector should be tested once a day before usage, when conditions allow, to ensure accuracy.
(2) Before being put to use, gas detectors that fail the test need to be calibrated;
(3) The test should be conducted whenever possible if the testing environment has the potential to alter the gas detector's performance.
The gas detector can lower the calibration frequency if the following conditions are satisfied if the circumstances do not permit daily calibration confirmation:
(1) At least 10 days of detection have been conducted on specified dates, and the results of each day's detection demonstrate that the gas detector was not harmed by specific environmental gases and did not result in gas sensor poisoning.
(2) The calibration interval may be extended if it is discovered following the test that the gas detector does not require calibration; the maximum extension is 30 days.
(3) The calibration history of the instrument should be handled by a specific person, or thorough tracking and use record data files should be present.
