Three Common Gas Detectors are Comparable
1、 Analysis of the Characteristics of Semiconductor Sensors
A semiconductor sensor gas detector is manufactured based on changes in resistance. Tin dioxide rapidly decreases its resistance when encountering alcohol gas at high temperatures, and an alcohol sensor was prepared using this principle. This type of sensor has the characteristic of low cost and is very suitable for detecting civil gases. Environmental factors have a significant impact on semiconductor sensor gas detectors, resulting in unstable detection results. And the output parameters of this type of gas detector cannot be determined, making it unsuitable for places with accurate measurement requirements.
2、 Analysis of the Characteristics of Combustion Sensors
A combustion type sensor is a high-temperature resistant catalyst layer prepared on the surface of a platinum resistor. When the temperature is sufficient, combustible gases will be subjected to catalytic combustion, which increases the temperature of the platinum resistor and reflects the concentration of combustible gases through the resistor. The detection range of the catalytic combustion sensor gas detector only includes combustible gases, and if the gas cannot be burned, the sensor will not produce a reaction. The catalytic combustion gas detector responds accurately, quickly, and has a long usage time.
3、 Analysis of Types of Electrochemical Sensors
A considerable portion of its flammable, toxic and harmful gases have electrochemical activity and can be electrochemically oxidized or reduced. The principle of a primary battery type gas sensor is roughly the same as that of a dry battery. The current detection of toxic and harmful gases mainly relies on constant potential electrolytic cell type gas sensors. Concentration battery type gas sensors can generate concentration dependent electromotive force and detect gas concentration, such as oxygen sensors used in automobiles.
