Three Signs You Need a New Moisture Meter

Below we have provided some tell-tale signs that you can use to determine if your moisture meter is damaged ; hopefully this will help you save your wallet and save some time waiting for repair/replacement. Three Signs of Needing a New Moisture Meter with Figure 1

1. Internal rattling sound
The internal components of the hygrometer should be securely seated; when you hear a clicking sound while using the unit, there is likely a problem. This is usually a good indicator that something in the unit has broken or come loose.

2. Easy to read
Being able to see a clear reading on the display is an important part of the moisture meter testing process. As we discussed earlier, sometimes the batteries run out causing the screen backlight to fail or the number segments on the digital display to not work properly.

This can be a little more serious if you replace the batteries with new, fully charged ones and still get inaccurate readings, which may require in-house repair or replacement. In this case, a good option is to contact the manufacturer of the meter for a good solution to the problem.

3. Not activated
A quick indicator that you should invest in a new hygrometer or that your current hygrometer needs fixing is when it is not activated. Again, this could be due to low/drained batteries, but if you replace the batteries and it still doesn't activate, it could be due to a damaged internal component, which may need to be repaired or replaced.
