Tips for purchasing clamp watches

1: Detection object
Choose the model based on different detection objects, such as AC current, DC current, or leakage current;

2: Detectable conductor specifications
There are different specifications ranging from 21mm diameter to 53mm diameter for testing purposes

3: Is it necessary to check the true efficacy value
The clamp ammeter using the average method cannot accurately detect non sinusoidal circuits such as motors and transformer circuits. To detect such circuits, a clamp ammeter using the true RMS method should be used

4: Other functions
A model that not only detects current, but also integrates detection function and recording output
The clamp current meter is abbreviated as a clamp meter. Its working part mainly consists of an electromagnetic ammeter and a through core current transformer. The iron core of a through type current transformer is made into a movable opening and forms a clamp shape, hence the name clamp ammeter. It is a portable instrument that can directly measure the AC current of a circuit without disconnecting the circuit. It is very convenient to use in electrical maintenance and has a wide range of applications.

Precautions for using clamp ammeters
① When conducting current measurement, the position of the measured fluid should be placed in the center of the clamp to avoid errors.

② Before measurement, the magnitude of the measured current should be estimated, and an appropriate range should be selected. When the current size is unknown, the maximum range should be selected, and the range should be appropriately reduced according to the pointer, but the range cannot be switched during measurement.

③ In order to ensure accurate readings, the jaws should be kept clean and undamaged. If there is dirt, it should be wiped clean with gasoline before measurement.

④ When measuring currents below 5A, in order to ensure accuracy, measurements should be made in circles.

⑤ Clamp gauges cannot measure the current of bare wires to prevent electric shock and short circuits.

⑥ After measurement, be sure to place the range dividing knob at the maximum range position.
