Treatment of PH Meter Probe Scaling
All industrial on-line ph meter electrode probes need to be visually inspected once a month on a regular basis and cleaned if necessary, if scaling on the industrial on-line ph meter electrode probes cannot be cleaned with a damp soft cloth the following reagents can be used:
Non-abrasive household detergents for general scaling.
Scale or metal hydroxides using diluted hydrochloric acid approx. 0.1%-3% for 1-5 minutes.
Oil lubricants use solvents such as alcohol or acetone
Biological contaminants use a mixture of dilute hydrochloric acid and pepsin for several hours.
Solvents such as acetone should not be used to clean the electrode as they can damage the plastic rod.
Industrial in-line ph meter electrode probes must be rinsed thoroughly after cleaning.
In addition the metal surfaces of the industrial online redox electrodes can be sandpapered and polished.
If the ceramic diaphragm of a later installed reference electrode becomes clogged it can be cleaned in the same way as the glass electrodes of the Industrial In-Line Ph Meter, in addition it can be carefully scraped off but care must be taken not to scratch the diaphragm.
