Method: Connect one end of the broken insulated wire to the live wire of the 220V AC power supply, and leave the other end in the air. Turn the digital multimeter to the 2V gear, start from the live wire end, move the red test pen along the insulation sheath of the wire, and the displayed voltage value should fluctuate up and down at a few tenths of a volt. When the red test pen moves to a certain place, the voltage suddenly drops to a few tenths of a volt, indicating that this must be the position of the broken core.

The AC 20V gear of the digital multimeter, the readings of the two measurements are 6.01V and 0.4V respectively, then the 6.01V terminal is the "hot" line of the power supply, and 0.4V is the change.
Due to the high sensitivity of the AC gear of the digital multimeter, it is not necessary to touch the inner copper wire, but only touch the outer skins of the two power wires to accurately determine the live wire, and the method is the same as above. Since the tip of the test pen does not touch the copper wire inside, the induced voltage is small, so the gear with a small range should be selected.
2. Distinguish between the "change" money and the "fire" money of the mains electricity
Turn the multimeter to the AC 20V gear, remove the black test lead, hold the insulating rod of the red test lead, and touch the two holes in the power socket with the tip of the pen in turn. The small socket hole is the "neutral" wire.
