Use of portable sugar refractometer
1. Correction:
Before starting the measurement, the reading must be calibrated with a standard glass block. Add 1 drop of naphthalene bromide to the polished surface of the standard glass block and attach it to the polished surface of the refracting prism. The polished surface of the standard glass block should be upward to receive light. After adjusting the scale value in the reading mirror to be consistent with the marked value of the standard glass block, observe whether the light and dark dividing line in the observation system telescope is in the middle of the cross line. If there is deviation, use the accessory square hole adjustment wrench to turn the dividing line adjustment knob to make the light and dark dividing line Adjust to the center and the correction is completed. No further movement is allowed during subsequent measurements. After the calibration is completed, remove the standard glass block, clean the refractive prism surface with ether solution, and then start the measurement work.
2. Measurement:
<1> After wiping the prism surface clean, add the liquid to be measured with a dropper on the frosted surface of the light-incoming prism, close the prism and rotate the prism locking handle to fasten the two prisms.
<2>Adjust the two reflectors to make the field of view of the observation system and the reading system bright.
<3> Rotate the scale adjustment knob to rotate the prism group, and observe the light-dark dividing line moving up and down through the lens barrel of the observation system. At the same time, adjust the dispersion prism handwheel to make the field of view black and white. When the black-white dividing line in the field of view crosses When the midpoints of the cross lines cut each other, observe the lens tube of the reading system. The value indicated by the thin black line in the field of view is the refractive index of the liquid being measured or the concentration value of the sugar solution.
Notes on use:
1. It must be calibrated with a standard glass block before measurement.
2. Wipe the surface of the prism clean before adding the liquid to be measured. When cleaning the prism, do not splash the liquid into the optical path groove.
3. The liquid dropped on the light-incoming prism surface should be evenly distributed on the prism surface, and the two prisms should be closed in a horizontal state to ensure that the gap between the prisms is filled with liquid.
4. Do not touch the parts of the refractometer when the liquid to be measured is stained on your hands to avoid difficulty in cleaning.
5. After the measurement is completed, wipe all parts clean and put them into the instrument.
