Utilization and safety measures for induction measuring pens

I believe many people have checked their own home wiring or electricity meters, so it is inevitable that induction test pens are commonly used electrical tools. A test pen, also known as a test pen, is a small tool used to test whether a wire is live or not. It has a very high usage rate and a wide range of applications. There are many types of test pens, so do you know the use of induction test pens?

Usage method of induction measuring pen

Commonly used low voltage test pen, master the two grip method for testing. A pen style measuring pen with the palm touching the metal clip. Pinch the middle part of the electric pen holder with your thumb, index finger, and middle finger. A rotary chisel type measuring pen with a metal cap on the tail of the index finger. Pinch the middle finger of the thumb and ring finger tightly in the middle of the plastic rod. The neon tube has a small window with backlight, and you can observe when facing yourself.

Precautions for using induction measuring pens

1. Before using the test pen, first check for safety resistance in the test pen, and then visually check for any damage, moisture or water ingress. Only after passing the inspection can the test pen be used.

Principle: There is a resistance inside the test pen and a luminescent element - a neon tube. The key lies in the neon tube. After the resistance is reduced, a voltage is applied to one end of the neon tube, forming a high potential. Your hand needs to contact the metal end of the pen tail, and now you are the ground wire. There are two thin metal wires in the neon tube that are very close but not connected. The neon tube is naturally filled with neon gas, and a suitable potential difference can generate glow discharge. If the voltage is too high, it will instantly break through the neon tube. At this point, the neon tube plays a safety role and will not cause too much harm to you. Low voltage can be more dangerous because traditional electric pens, such as neon tube electric pens, only light up at around 100V or above. It is not important to be careless. Additionally, do not let the electric pen enter water, otherwise you will know the feeling of electric shock.

2. When using a test pen, do not touch the metal probe at the front end of the test pen with your hands, as this can cause personal electric shock accidents.

3. When using a test pen, be sure to touch the metal part at the end of the test pen with your hand. Otherwise, due to the lack of a circuit between the charged body, the test pen, the human body, and the earth, the neon bubbles in the test pen will not emit light, causing a misjudgment and believing that the charged body is not charged, which is very dangerous.

4. Before measuring whether electrical equipment is live, it is necessary to find a known power source to test whether the neon bulb of the electric pen can emit light normally and can emit light normally before use.

5. When testing charged objects in bright light, special attention should be paid to whether the neon bubble truly emits light (or does not emit light). If necessary, the other hand can be used to block the light and carefully distinguish. Do not cause misjudgment by judging neon bubbles as not emitting light and judging them as having electricity as not.
