What are the advantages of infrared thermometers?
1. Simple and convenient
Infrared thermometers provide fast temperature measurements, and while thermocouples are used to read the time of leaking junctions, infrared thermometers can read the temperature of almost any junction. In addition, because the infrared thermometer is strong and light (the weight is less than 10 ounces), it is easy to put in the suitcase when not in use. Therefore, you can carry it when you are on factory visit and daily inspection basis.
2. Accurate
Another feature of an infrared thermometer is its accuracy, usually within 1 degree. This capability is especially important when you are performing preventive maintenance, such as monitoring harsh production conditions and special events that can cause equipment damage or downtime. Since most equipment and plants run 365 days, downtime equates to reduced revenue. To prevent this loss, scan all on-site electronics circuit breakers, transformers, fuses, switches, busses, and switchboards for hot spots. With an infrared thermometer, you can quickly detect even small changes in operating temperature and fix problems early, reducing the expense and scope of maintenance associated with equipment failure.

Safety is the biggest benefit of using an infrared thermometer. Unlike contact thermometers, infrared thermometers can safely read the temperature of inaccessible or inaccessible targets.
