What are the differences between a hand-held refractometer and a hand-held sugar meter in terms of use and operation?

 

1. Different functions

 

Using a hand-held sugar meter, it is simple and rapid to calculate the refractive index or weight percent concentration of liquids containing sugar.


The specific gravity of battery electrolyte, the salinity of saltwater, the amount of sugar in wine, the amount of water in a high sugar solution, and other properties of liquids may all be measured with a handheld refractometer.

 

2. Different working principles

 

Hand-held sugar meter: The sugar meter primarily relies on the refraction phenomenon, which occurs when light enters another medium from a first medium and the refractive index is the constant ratio of the sine of the incidence angle. Under normal conditions, it is possible to determine the sugar solution's refractive index by using the direct relationship between the amount of soluble substances present in the solution and the refractive index. This allows the sugar meter/refractometer to determine the solution's sugar concentration.
