What are the differences between pulse power supply and DC power supply?

Pulse power supply and DC power supply are two very important concepts in the field of electronics. In the process of use, their characteristics are not exactly the same, so there are also certain differences between them. Next, let's explore the difference between pulse power supply and DC power supply.

1. Output method of current
Firstly, from the perspective of current output, pulse power supplies output current in a sudden manner, providing a certain amount of current in a short period of time, which is an intermittent current output method. The DC power supply outputs current in a stable and continuous manner, that is, outputs a certain current value, usually DC voltage.

2. Stability of output voltage
Secondly, in terms of the stability of the output voltage, the output voltage of a pulse power supply is not very stable and is easily affected by external interference and fluctuations. Therefore, in some situations where high stability of the output voltage is required, the use of a pulse power supply is not suitable. The output voltage stability of DC power supply is good, and it is basically not affected by external factors, so it is very suitable in situations where high requirements for output voltage stability are needed.

3. Waveform of output current
From the waveform of the output current, the output current of pulse power supplies is generally rectangular or pulse waveform, with extremely high peak current and short current pulses. This is also one of the advantages of pulse power supplies, which can provide a large amount of current in a short period of time and is suitable for use in some high load situations. The DC power supply, on the other hand, outputs a stable current with a straight waveform and no sudden or high peaks in current. Therefore, it is suitable for situations where high output current quality is required.

4. Different working principles
The working principles of pulse power supply and DC power supply are also different. The working principle of a pulse power supply is to use capacitors to store electrical energy, and then quickly discharge the capacitors through switching devices to form pulses of current signals. The DC power supply converts the AC power supply into a DC power supply for output through the conversion of the DC power supply.

5. Different scopes of use
Finally, in terms of usage scope, pulse power supplies are suitable for some high load, high-power, and high-speed operating scenarios, such as lasers, pulse lasers, high-power LEDs, and so on. DC power supply is suitable for applications that require stable current and high output quality, such as electronic devices, computers, communication equipment, etc.
