What are the reasons for the temperature measurement error of infrared thermometer?
Non contact infrared radiation thermometers are divided into two types: industrial and medical. For measuring human body temperature, medical infrared thermometers, infrared ear thermometers, and infrared body surface temperature detectors should be used, as their measurement range is narrow, resolution is high, and error is small. On the contrary, industrial infrared thermometers have a wide measurement range, low resolution, and large errors. But currently, many anti SARS inspection stations still use industrial infrared thermometers to measure human body temperature. Therefore, it can only be used for initial screening, and medical thermometers must be used to determine and eliminate suspected heating objects.
Nowadays, many temperature detectors have the problem of large errors. According to relevant personnel, various existing infrared thermometers are modified from industrial thermometers and can only measure the surface temperature of the forehead, not the temperature of the armpit. The surface temperature of the forehead is not only lower than the temperature of the armpit, but also greatly affected by environmental temperature, resulting in significant measurement errors in various existing infrared thermometers. An infrared temperature measurement product with environmental temperature compensation function should be developed, which can accurately convert the axillary temperature based on the forehead temperature and environmental temperature of the human body.
According to relevant experts, in order to prioritize social interests and gather more resources and forces to fight against SARS, the new infrared thermometer can significantly reduce the technical and manufacturing barriers of infrared temperature measurement equipment, and also solve the problems of complete dependence on imports, shortage of goods, and high prices of core components for infrared temperature measurement in China.
So, what is the technological content of the current infrared thermometer? Experts from the China Institute of Metrology and Technology said in an interview with reporters, firstly, the measurement accuracy of a thermometer is related to the accuracy of the instrument itself and the quality of the instrument itself; Secondly, the difference in measurement standards between the calibrated temperature and the measured temperature of the measuring instrument in the laboratory can also easily cause measurement errors; Thirdly, nowadays, thermometers only measure the forehead, palm, face, and other parts of a person, and the measurement results belong to the surface temperature of the body. However, the surface temperature may fluctuate due to the influence of human activity, so it may not truly represent the temperature of the human body.
Experts also revealed that a measurement standard for temperature measuring instruments is currently being revised, and the measurement standard will make relevant provisions for factors such as high measurement errors of the instruments. At the same time, the scientific and technological personnel of the China Academy of Metrology are working overtime to produce the infrared thermometer calibration device recently developed by the institute, with plans to equip 50 ports with such devices. This device not only fills the gap in China's on-site calibration device for infrared radiation thermometers, but also provides a calibration standard for infrared radiation thermometers.
