What are the types of portable gas detectors? Here is an introduction.

1. Diffusion-type Gas Detector
In an open environment, such as an open workshop, this type of instrument can be used as a safety alarm. Because it can continuously, in real-time, and accurately display the concentration of toxic and harmful gases on-site. If the concentration exceeds the standard, it will emit audible, visual, and vibration alarms to give a warning.

2. Pump-suction Gas Detector
Before entering confined spaces, such as reaction tanks, storage tanks or containers, sewers or other underground pipelines, underground facilities, enclosed agricultural granaries, railway tank cars, shipping cargo holds, tunnels and other workplaces, detection must be carried out, and the detection should be done outside the confined space. At this time, a multi-gas detector with a built-in sampling pump must be selected. Because the gas distribution and gas types in different parts (upper, middle, lower) of the confined space vary greatly. For example, generally speaking, combustible gases are lighter in specific gravity, and most of them are distributed in the upper part of the confined space. Carbon monoxide has a similar specific gravity to air and is generally distributed in the middle part. While heavier gases such as hydrogen sulfide are present in the lower part of the confined space.
At the same time, the oxygen concentration is also one of the types that must be detected. In addition, if considering the possible volatilization and leakage of organic substances in the tank, a detector capable of detecting organic gases is also required. Therefore, a complete confined space gas detector should be a portable instrument with a built-in pump-suction function so that it can detect in a non-contact manner and at different parts. It should have a multi-gas detection function to detect dangerous gases with different spatial distributions, including inorganic and organic gases. It should also have an oxygen detection function to prevent oxygen deficiency or excessive oxygen. It should be small in size and not affect the work of workers. Only in this way can the personal safety of the workers entering the confined space be ensured.

3. Pump-suction Gas Detector
For leak detection and inspection tours, a pump-suction type instrument with a short response time, high sensitivity, and high resolution should be used. In this way, it is easy to determine the location of the leakage point. Moreover, it is also necessary to be equipped with software to connect to a PC for data downloading. Currently, many manufacturers have the function of data storage and downloading, but this requires selecting additional optional components.
