As a sharp tool for micro-nano detection, confocal microscope is different from white light interferometer in many ways. If you use one word to describe it, then white light interferometer is "literature", while confocal microscope is "wu". White light is good at the detection of sub-nanometer ultra-smooth surfaces, and pursues the accuracy of detection values; while confocal is good at the detection of micro-nano-level rough contours. Although the detection resolution is slightly inferior, it can provide colorful true-color images for easy observation .
