What distinguishes one sort of infrared night vision equipment—passive or active—from the other?
Infrared night vision devices are divided into active and passive, what is the difference between the two?
Active night vision system: it uses near-infrared light as a light source to illuminate the target, such as infrared LED, infrared lamp and near-infrared laser; it uses a low-light camera or a low-light camera to receive the infrared light reflected by the target and convert it into a video signal on the monitor screen This kind of night vision device is called active infrared night vision device.
Passive night vision system: There are two types, one is to use all very weak natural light such as moonlight, starlight, night sky light, etc., to amplify and enhance the visual purpose, this kind of night vision device is also called low-light night vision device . The other is to use a far-infrared sensitive detector to detect the thermal radiation of the target itself. This type of night vision device is also called a thermal imager.
What types of night vision goggles are there?
Night vision devices can be roughly divided into three categories:
Spotting Scopes - Spotting scopes are usually hand-held, but can also be mounted on a weapon, and they have a monocular (one eye) body. Since the scope is a handheld device and not worn on the body like an eyepiece, it is suitable when you want to take a more detailed observation of a specific target and then return to normal observation conditions.
Eyepieces - Although eyepieces can also be hand held, they are usually worn on the forehead. The eyepiece adopts a binocular (two eyes) mirror body, and can use a single lens or a compound lens according to different styles. Eyepieces are the best choice for long-duration observations, such as when patrolling buildings in poor lighting.
Cameras - Cameras with night vision technology can transmit images to a display for instant playback, or a video recorder can record the transmitted images. When we need to perform high-quality night vision observations at a constant location, such as on a fixed building, or when the night vision device is equipped as an airborne device for a helicopter, the camera can come in handy. Many new cameras already have built-in night vision.
