What distinguishes the oil lens from the standard objective lens in terms of use

The use of the oil lens differs from that of a regular objective lens.

While using the oil lens, a drop of cedar oil must be placed on the slide glass. During the rising process, the objective lens cannot be detached from the oil drop, and the oil lens' magnification is greater than that of a regular objective lens.

While utilizing oil mirrors, be mindful of:

1. After using an oil lens, wipe off the cedar oil with a lens cleaning paper dipped in a little xylene before wiping the lens and the specimen clean with a dry lens tissue. The field of view noticeably darkens after adding cedar oil, thus the collector needs to be lifted to its highest point and the aperture needs to be fully expanded. The target seen via the high-power and low-power lenses must be in the center of the field of view before employing the oil lens. immersion oil for a microscope.

2. A particular oil for oil mirrors is cedar oil. The resolution of the oil mirror and the observational quality of the microscope can both be considerably enhanced by dropping a liquid with a refractive index of 1.5 under the 100 times oil mirror. Cedar oil, which has a refractive index of 1.52, is the ideal immersion oil for a microscope.

3. In order to prevent the cedar oil from overflowing, disturbing the observation, and contaminating the table, the microscope must be erect on the table and the arm must not be bent to tilt the stage.
