What elements must be taken into account while using the sound level meter?
The sound level meter is the most basic noise measuring instrument. It is an electronic instrument, but it is different from objective electronic instruments such as voltmeters. When converting an acoustic signal into an electrical signal, it can simulate the time characteristics of the human ear's response speed to sound waves; the frequency characteristics of different sensitivities to high and low frequencies and the intensity characteristics of changing the frequency characteristics at different loudness. Therefore, the sound level meter is a subjective electronic instrument.
Precautions
1) Read the instruction manual before use to understand the use method and precautions of the instrument.
2) The instrument should not be placed in a place with high temperature, humidity, sewage, dust, air or chemical gas with high content of hydrochloric acid and alkali.
3) Pay attention to the polarity when installing the battery or external power supply, and do not reverse the connection. The battery should be removed when not in use for a long time, so as not to damage the instrument due to leakage.
4) Do not disassemble the microphone, prevent it from being thrown, and place it properly when not in use.
5) Do not disassemble the instrument without authorization. If the instrument is abnormal, it can be sent to the repair unit or the factory for inspection.
6). During use, if there is an undervoltage alarm in the LCD, the battery should be replaced in time.
7) Before the sound level meter is measured, it can be turned on and preheated for 2 minutes, and it can be preheated for 5 to 10 minutes in humid days.
Sensitivity Calibration
In order to ensure the accuracy of the measurement, it should be calibrated before and after use.
Fit the sound level calibrator on the microphone, turn on the calibration power, read the value, adjust the sensitivity potentiometer of the noise meter, and complete the calibration.
Measurement methods
When measuring, the instrument should select the correct gear according to the situation, hold both sides of the noise meter flat with both hands, and the microphone points to the sound source to be measured. Extension cables and extension rods can also be used to reduce the impact of the noise meter’s appearance and human body on the measurement. The position of the microphone should be determined according to relevant regulations.
