What is a DC power supply? and its characteristics

 

As we all know, a DC power supply is a device that must provide power to an electronic system. Since batteries are relatively expensive, they are used in some portable devices, most of which require DC power to convert AC to DC, now let's look at the composition of DC power.

(1) Power transformer: Generally speaking, the commercial power supply is 220V alternating current, so the function of the power transformer is to convert this alternating current into low-voltage alternating current.


(2) Rectifier circuit: Diodes have unidirectional conductivity, so it is necessary to use the characteristics of diodes to convert low AC voltages into single-pulse voltages, including half-wave differential rectification and full-wave rectification.

(3) Voltage stabilization circuit: If the DC current is unstable due to grid voltage fluctuations and load changes, causing the power of electronic equipment to drop, the circuit uses a voltage stabilizer and negative feedback to achieve stable voltage.

(4) Filtering circuit: Utilize the characteristics of the inductance-capacitance unit to filter the AC component of the rectified single pulse current, and convert the single pulse current into a flat DC current.

Features of DC power supply

(1) Output range and characteristics of DC power supply

Rectangular power supply, double rectangular power supply (wide working range), automatic power supply (with maximum output power within a certain voltage range, such as one power supply replacing several power supplies).

(2) Output noise of DC power supply

When a mixed current element comes out of a DC supply, the output you see will not be the voltage and current you want.

(3) DC telemetry

Remote sensing means that the output voltage across the tube, rather than the output voltage, can be measured directly. Long cables will create some resistance. If the voltage is adjusted, the output voltage drops, which can cause tube failure or even system shutdown.

(4) Transient response of DC power supply

Transient response refers to transient changes in load current. The power supply's ability to respond quickly to this change is a purely constant voltage resistive mode.
