What is a wind anemometer and how does it work?
The wind cup anemometer is the most common type of anemometer, this rotating cup anemometer was first invented by J.T.R. Robinson in England (1846), at that time it was a four-cup, but later changed to a three-cup. Three mutually 120 degrees fixed in the frame of the parabolic or hemispherical empty cups are along one side, the whole frame with the wind cup mounted on a free rotation of the shaft. In the wind under the action of the wind cup rotates around the shaft, its speed is proportional to the wind speed. The rotational speed can be recorded with electrical contacts, tachymeter generators or photoelectric counters.
Wind anemometer is the use of wind cups to measure wind speed, mainly by the pole, wind markers, wind cups and wind speed and wind direction sensor composition, can measure the instantaneous wind speed and wind direction. The instrument host screen can automatically display the measurement results, and can store a large amount of measurement data, but also through the access to the sensor way to increase the monitoring parameters, to achieve a multi-purpose machine. It adopts portable design, with GPS positioning function and instrument management cloud platform, through the cloud platform to view various data graphs, peaks, etc., which is convenient for researchers to study and analyse. Wind has both size and direction, and the size of wind speed is often expressed in terms of wind level. In agrometeorological disasters, the disaster caused by winds of more than 8 levels is usually called wind damage, which is very destructive to agriculture. The impact of wind damage on agricultural production is mainly manifested in mechanical damage, physiological hazards, wind erosion, damage to agricultural production facilities, etc. With the help of wind anemometers can be real-time monitoring of wind changes in nature.
Common instruments for measuring wind speed include wind cup anemometer, spiral anemometer, hot wire anemometer, acoustic anemometer, etc. Different kinds of anemometers can be applied to different occasions.
