What is the difference between a megohmmeter and a multimeter ?

1, the composition of different structures:
Megohmmeter is composed of medium and large-scale integrated circuits. This meter has high output power, high short-circuit current value, and many output voltage levels (each model has four voltage levels).

Multimeter by the head, measurement circuit and switch and other three main parts.

2, the working principle is different:
Megohmmeter by using a voltage to stimulate the device or network under test, and then measure the current generated by the stimulus, using Ohm's law to measure the resistance.

The basic principle of the multimeter is to use a sensitive magneto-electric DC ammeter (microampere meter) to do the head. When a tiny current passes through the head, there will be a current indication.

3, the scope of use is different:
Megohmmeter is electric power, post and telecommunications, communications, electromechanical installation and maintenance as well as the use of electricity as industrial power or energy source of the industrial enterprise sector commonly used and indispensable instrumentation. It is suitable for measuring the resistance value of various insulating materials and transformers, motors, cables and electrical equipment such as insulation resistance.

Multimeter can not only be used to measure the resistance of the measured object, AC and DC voltage can also be measured DC voltage. Even some multimeters can measure the main parameters of transistors and the capacitance of capacitors.
