When using, be sure to touch the metal pen holder (pen type) or the metal screw on the top of the test pen (screwdriver type) with your fingers, so that the current flows through the tested charged body, the measuring pen, the human body, and the ground to form a circuit. As long as the voltage between the tested charged body and the ground exceeds 60V, the neon tube will emit light. When observing, the neon tube window should be backlit towards the operator.
