What is the structure of the electric tester?

A measuring pen is one of the essential tools for electricians, used to measure whether a conductor is charged. It is mainly used to check whether electrical circuits and equipment are charged. Here is an introduction to the structure of a measuring pen. Let's take a look together!

The structure of a measuring pen generally consists of a contact electrode, a resistor, a neon bubble, a spring, and a metal end cap (hand contact electrode). For digital devices, there are also components such as display screens, indicator lights, electrical testing buttons, and power-off testing buttons.

In addition, there are many types of appearance for measuring pens, such as those shaped like screwdrivers, but they cannot be used as screwdrivers to tighten or remove screws. There are also some new types of measuring probes, such as digital ones, which can not only observe whether there is electricity in the wire, but also measure the voltage value. In addition, some electrician friends use induction type measuring pens, which are very convenient to use. There are many types of measuring pens, which increase the range of choices for electricians.

What voltage can a measuring pen measure
1. The voltage range measured by a regular test pen is between 60V and 500V. When the voltage is below 60 volts, the neon tube of the test pen may not light up. When the voltage is above 500 volts, a regular test pen cannot be used for measurement, otherwise it may cause personal electric shock.

2. When using, be sure to touch the metal pen holder (pen type) or the metal screw on the top of the test pen (screwdriver type) with your fingers, so that the current flows through the tested charged body, the measuring pen, the human body, and the ground to form a circuit. As long as the voltage between the tested charged body and the ground exceeds 60V, the neon tube will emit light. When observing, the neon tube window should be backlit towards the operator.
