1. Daily maintenance

(1) Moisture proof

Optical lenses are prone to mold and fog. After the mechanical parts are wet, they are easy to rust.

1 to 2 bags of silica gel should be placed in the microscope box as a desiccant.

(2) Dustproof

Dust falling on the surface of the optical element not only affects the passage of light, but also generates large stains after being amplified by the optical system, which affects the observation. Dust and sand particles fall into the mechanical parts, which will also increase wear and tear and cause blockage of movement, which is also very harmful.

Take care to keep the microscope clean.

(3) Anti-corrosion

Microscopes cannot be used with corrosive chemicals. Such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, strong alkali, etc.

(4) heat protection

Avoid thermal expansion and cold contraction | from the opening and falling off of the lens.

Therefore, the microscope should be placed in a dry, cool, dust-free and corrosion-free place. After use, wipe it clean immediately, then put the dustproof and breathable Tan cover or put it in the box. When the microscope is not in use, cover it with a plastic cover and store in a dry place to prevent dust and mildew. Store objectives and eyepieces in a container such as a desiccator, protected from desiccant.

2. Maintenance of mechanical system

Sliding parts: apply some neutral grease regularly

Cleaning of paint and plastic surfaces: Stubborn stains can be cleaned with a soft cleaner, a silicon cloth is recommended. Plastic part: You can clean it with a soft cloth dipped in water.

Note: Do not use organic solvents (such as alcohol, ether, thinner, etc.). Because it will corrode machinery and paint, causing damage.

3. Maintenance of the optical system

cleaning of lenses;

Gently wipe the eyepiece and objective lens with a clean, soft silk cloth after use. Condenser and reflector just need to be wiped clean.

If there are more stubborn stains, you can use long-fiber absorbent cotton or a clean fine cotton cloth dipped in a little xylene or lens cleaning solution (3 parts alcohol: 1 part ether) to wipe, then dry it with a clean soft silk cloth or use a hair dryer Blow dry.

Note: The cleaning solution must not penetrate into the inside of the objective lens, otherwise it will damage the objective lens. Pure alcohol and xylene are flammable, so be careful not to ignite these liquids when turning the power switch on or off.

How to deal with fogging of objective lenses and eyepieces;

Prepare 30% absolute ethanol + 70% ether, and place different lenses in a desiccant container separately. It is best to use cotton swabs, gauze, soft brushes and other soft things to wipe the oil lens. Clean it at that time.

Especially the 100X oil lens, if not handled properly, the front film is easy to soak in oil or open the glue. The eyepiece can be dismantled and cleaned by itself. Note that the 16X eyepiece is different, and the front concave is on the top.

Do not remove the objective lens casually.

Note: When scrubbing the lens, do not overuse the ribs to prevent damage to the coating. Generally, it is best to focus on maintenance - once every 2 months. When the microscope is used for a long time, each lens should be marked to avoid wrong matching.

4. Regular inspection

In order to maintain stable performance, it is recommended to do regular inspection and maintenance.

To sum up, for the maintenance of the microscope, the main purpose is to prevent dust, moisture, heat and corrosion. Clean and wipe clean in time, and regularly add neutral lubricating grease to relevant parts. For some parts with complex structure and precise assembly, if there is no certain professional knowledge, certain skills and special tools, they cannot be disassembled and assembled without authorization, so as not to damage the parts.
