What to do if the soldering iron tip does not hang tin? Take a look at three processing methods

When repairing electronic circuits or soldering components, an electric soldering iron is an important tool. The ability of each component to firmly stand on the printed circuit board is inseparable from the contribution of the electric soldering iron. Next, let's take a look at how to handle the electric soldering iron head without hanging tin.

Treatment method for electric soldering iron head not hanging tin

When using an electric soldering iron to weld components, sometimes there are situations where the electric soldering iron head does not stick to tin, and the problem of the electric soldering iron not hanging tin is mainly divided into the following types:

1. After a long time of use, the surface of the electric soldering iron head will be oxidized, and a layer of Copper(II) oxide will be formed on its surface, so it is easy not to hang tin. During the lead-free welding process, there may be situations where the electric soldering iron tip does not stick to tin.

2. When the temperature is too high, it is easy to cause severe oxidation on the tin surface of the soldering iron tip.

3. Dry burning of the electric soldering iron head can also lead to the problem of the soldering iron head not hanging tin.

4. The flux used is highly corrosive, causing rapid oxidation of the soldering iron tip.

5. Using neutral active flux without regularly cleaning the oxide on the soldering iron head.

Treatment method for non sticking tin of electric soldering iron

Method 1: Hang off the oxide layer on the surface of the soldering iron head with a small knife, and then dip it in some rosin to solve the problem. However, if this method is not thoroughly removed, it will damage the soldering iron tip over time, resulting in poor heat transfer of the soldering iron.

Method 2: Immerse the oxidized soldering iron tip into a container containing alcohol, take it out after about 1-2 minutes, and the oxide is completely removed, giving the soldering iron tip a new look. The reason is that after heating Copper(II) oxide and alcohol, a chemical reaction will occur, reducing copper and not corroding the electric soldering iron head.

Method 3: Use and maintain the tool correctly according to maintenance specifications, use it at low temperatures as much as possible, reduce its oxidation rate, and extend its service life. Do not use force to compress, as long as the heat is in good contact, it will be transmitted normally.
