Which gas detector should I choose in a confined space?

There are many types of gas detectors, and there are mainly three types of gas detectors used in enclosed spaces, which are determined by the type of gas. Dangerous gases in confined spaces can be roughly divided into three categories; Oxygen level (insufficient or excessive) (oxygen detector), combustible gas (combustible gas alarm), toxic gas (toxic gas alarm).

Gas detectors should be designed based on the causes of these gases, including natural processes in space such as decomposition and decay; Work processes related to confined spaces; Substances used or generated in space; External sources of pollution, etc.

When choosing a gas alarm, consideration should be given to the risk assessment of entering a confined space, taking into account the conditions of other parts inside and outside the confined space, as well as their potential impact on the confined space. In many cases, the source of hazardous gases in a confined space may not be located within the confined space.

For example, in many refineries and chemical plants, the release of toxic (toxic gas alarms) and explosive (flammable gas alarms) gases from equipment is common. Due to the fluidity of gases, the release of hazardous gases from one area can quickly spread to other areas. When encountering structures in enclosed spaces, these gases may enter the enclosed space through diffusion, infiltration, sinking, and other means. Therefore, when deciding on the detection method for toxic and harmful gases entering enclosed spaces, all possible scenarios should be fully considered.
