Advantages and disadvantages of switch regulated power supply


Advantages:

Compared with series adjustment regulated power supply, "switch type regulated power supply" is more efficient and energy-saving; Strong ability to adapt to changes in electricity supply; Wide adjustable range of output voltage; A single switch can easily obtain multiple sets of power supplies with different voltage levels; It has many advantages such as small size and light weight, and is widely adopted.

Working principle: After rectification and filtering, the DC voltage is supplied by R1 to the base of the adjustment tube, making the adjustment tube conductive. When V1 is conductive, the voltage passes through RP and R2 to make V2 conductive, and then V3 also conductive. At this time, the emitter and collector voltages of V1, V2, and V3 no longer change (their function is completely the same as that of a voltage regulator tube). By adjusting RP, a stable output voltage can be obtained, and the ratio of R1, RP, R2, and R3 determines the voltage value output by this circuit.


The difference between linear regulated power supply and switching power supply

Switching regulated power supply is achieved by converting DC into high-frequency pulses and then conducting electromagnetic transformation to achieve voltage conversion and voltage stabilization. A linear regulated power supply is a controllable adjusting element directly connected in series to divide the input DC voltage, achieving voltage transformation and stabilization, essentially equivalent to connecting a variable resistor in series.


The switch regulated power supply has high efficiency and can increase or decrease voltage. Linear regulated power supply can only reduce voltage and has low efficiency. Switching regulated power supplies can generate high-frequency interference, while linear regulated power supplies have no interference
