Why do repair specialists need to measure the quantitative moisture?

In the repair industry, customers rely on repair professionals to eliminate any and all excess moisture marks in the structure for reuse. Whether the property to be restored is residential or commercial property, lingering traces of moisture can cause the following hazards:

Mold growth. Most people believe that the growth of black mold and other fungi in dark and humid areas is not a danger until they begin to smell the smell of mold, and people with asthma and other respiratory diseases begin to suffer from the side effects of fungal spore exposure. If too much moisture remains in the building materials after drying/tearing, it may breed mold in the structure, thereby endangering respiratory health.

Potential structural failure. Excessive moisture in the structure can weaken certain building materials. For example, wooden beams will rotate, making them easy to break under heavy loads. Water can corrode metals rich in iron, thereby damaging the performance of wooden nails and other metal objects used to keep structures together.

Pest infestation. Water bags hidden deep in wooden structural beams and other building materials can attract pests such as termites, rodents, and cockroaches. These pests can spread diseases and devour structural materials, causing potential harm to the occupants of the structure.

Usually, a reference hygrometer can be used to find the worst moisture content (qualitative moisture reading). However, when certain materials are only slightly damp, it is difficult to address them in one or another way.

This may lead to disassembly/tearing of recyclable materials, or incomplete tearing due to the inability to correctly identify damp materials.

Another issue in recovery work is the need to document dry work. In many cases, whether repair professionals can collect service fees in a timely manner depends on whether insurance companies are willing to pay for property damage claims. However, before making any payment, the insurance company will need to verify whether recovery work is necessary.

Submitting the quantitative moisture measurement results to the insurance company after providing documentary evidence can help prove the necessity of the work. I hope this will help smooth the insurance claim process so that the repair company can collect payment.

Although qualitative moisture measurement is useful, it is not as reliable as more accurate quantitative moisture readings used for this purpose.
