Why is it that the soldering iron does not heat up after I turn it on?

The reason why an electric soldering iron is not hot when powered on is usually due to the power cord falling off or the soldering iron core wire breaking. When encountering this fault, the R × lkn gear of the multimeter can be used to measure both ends of the power plug. If the multimeter pointer does not move, it indicates an open circuit fault.

Firstly, check if there is any open circuit in the leads of the plug itself. If not, remove the rubber handle and use a multimeter to measure the two leads of the iron core. If the multimeter pointer still does not move, it indicates that the iron core is damaged and should be replaced. The resistance value between the two leads of the 35W internal heating soldering iron core is about 1 Skfl. If the resistance value is measured to be normal, it indicates that the soldering iron core is good. The fault occurs in the power lead and the plug itself, and most faults are lead breakage.

To replace the soldering iron core, insert a new soldering iron core of the same specification into the connecting rod, fix the lead on the fixing screw, and tighten the terminal. At the same time, be careful to cut off the excess part of the soldering iron core lead to prevent short circuit between the two leads.

Electric soldering iron: a tool for electronic production and electrical maintenance, generally composed of soldering iron tip, soldering iron core, shell, wooden handle, power lead, plug and other parts, mainly used for soldering components and wires.

The working principle of an electric soldering iron: After the power is turned on, heat is generated through the resistance wire of the soldering iron core and transmitted to the soldering iron tip, which melts the solder to work.

The main reason why the soldering iron is not hot may be that the resistance wire in the soldering iron tip is burnt out, which is a vulnerable component in the soldering iron. Simply replace the soldering iron core. But it cannot rule out faults with the power cord and plug. So when encountering an electric soldering iron that is not hot, you should first use a multimeter to check the power plug and power cord, and then check the soldering iron core after troubleshooting
